Wedding Venue Spotlight: The Uptown Center for the Performing Arts

Wedding planning can be a super stressful time for a newly engaged couple. There are so many key details that need to be decided, from saying yes to the dress to choosing the right cake flavor, every decision is important. One of the most crucial things to get booked early is the venue. From rustic barns to classy banquet halls, the venue you choose should match your style. In Northwest Indiana, if elegance is what you seek, there are few better options than the Uptown Center for the Performing Arts in Michigan City.

Originally built in 1867 under the name The Canterbury Theater, The Uptown Center reopened in 2009 under the new ownership of Jim and Amy Percifield who spared no expense in making the theater as beautiful as it once was. The Uptown Center features a beautifully restored ballroom keeping the original architectural style and sophistication in mind. As soon as you walk through the grand entrance, your eyes instantly are drawn to the gorgeously remodeled stage area. Needless to say, the Uptown Center is one of the most picturesque venues in the area.

It is also a full service venue that accommodates every facet of your wedding day. With 3 bridal suites, a full-service lounge, private courtyard and outdoor patio, the ability to host both ceremonies and receptions for up to 300 guests, the Uptown Center is able to fulfill most of your needs in one venue.

Joy Collins and her staff work tirelessly every single event to make sure your day goes as perfectly as possible. She’s proactive with every facet of your wedding, including details you never would even think about, and is there to help with anything you need night of, including anything we need that night too.

The Uptown Center has been so helpful to us over the years and we want to take the time to say thank you for everything. We look forward working with you again many times this upcoming wedding season.
